Alion

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Alion collects, uses, shares, and stores information when you use Recall Companion, the companion website for the board game Recall. The service is available worldwide.

We ask you not to type real names, emails, addresses, or other personal details into the game. Even so, if someone does, that information is personal data, and this policy describes how it is handled.

Who is responsible

Alion is the data controller: the company that owns Recall Companion, operates it while it is live, answers support emails, and handles deletion requests. Mistzone developed this website. After launch, Mistzone does not operate the service. If Alion asks for technical help, Mistzone may assist, but only on Alion's instructions.

Alion (data controller)

Alion is a board game creator and publisher. Alion has designed, developed, and published the board game called Recall, a spiritual successor to the award-winning board game called Revive.

Alion is registered in Enhetsregisteret in Norway (organisation number 930874280). You may contact Alion at recall@aliongames.com.

For privacy questions or to ask that a civilization be deleted, email recall@aliongames.com.

Mistzone (developer)

Mistzone is a board game creator, publisher, and developer of websites, apps, and digital games. Mistzone developed this website as a companion for Recall. Mistzone is not the data controller for the live service.

Mistzone is registered in Enhetsregisteret in Norway (organisation number 930754498). To learn more, you may contact Mistzone at mistzone@mistzone.com or visit mistzone.com.

What we do not collect

Recall Companion does not use user accounts. We do not collect:

  • Email addresses or phone numbers through the game (unless you email us yourself)
  • Passwords or login details
  • Payment information
  • Your precise location or GPS
  • Advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies
  • Your country from your IP address. If you save a civilization, we store the country you picked, or Unknown if you did not pick one

Information stored on your device

While you play, game progress is stored in your browser's local storage so you can refresh or come back later. This includes:

  • Screen language
  • Number of players
  • Each player's civilization (leader name, tribe, gadgets, and score)
  • The three ancient civilizations for you to discover
  • A random identifier for this game, so you can continue or save later from this device

Pressing "End Game Session" deletes the game data on your device. Your screen language preference is kept so the site stays in the language you chose. You can also clear this data by clearing this site's stored data in your browser.

Information stored when you play

When a new game is synced to our server, we store a game record even if nobody later saves a civilization.

When you start a new game:

  • A random game identifier
  • Current date and time
  • Number of players

When the game is finished:

  • Current date and time
  • Each player's score, when entered. Empty seats stay empty. Scores are stored even if that player does not save a civilization

The game identifier is stored on our server and on your device so this device can save civilizations later. Other people cannot edit those saves.

The date and time of game start and end, the number of players, and the scores for each seat are stored so Alion can produce game statistics and help balance future editions. Scores are not names or other identifying details.

If you save a civilization

When the game ends, players may choose to save their civilization on our server before continuing to the high score list. Saving is optional.

Saving and editing are only possible for a limited time after the game. After that, email us if you need a change or deletion.

If you save, we store the following information provided by the player:

  • Leader name
  • Clan name
  • Country
  • Score
  • Tribe
  • Gadgets

Please do not enter real names or other personal details in the name fields. You may select your own country if you wish.

We also store automatically:

  • Whether the civilization won
  • Current date and time

A saved civilization can appear on the high score list (recent top scores, usually from the last 30 days), showing leader name, clan name, country, tribe, and score. It can also appear as an ancient civilization in later games, which can include those details plus gadgets and the date it was saved.

We use saved civilizations to:

  • Provide ancient civilizations for future plays for all players
  • Analyze whether any tribes or gadgets, alone or together, are more prone to winning or high scores, so Alion can balance the game
  • Identify a civilization if a player asks for it to be erased

Technical information

To prevent abuse, we may briefly process your IP address. It is not stored in the game database. The hosting provider may also keep its own technical logs as part of running the website.

If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message so we can reply and, if you ask, delete data.

Why we process information (legal bases)

Alion is established in Norway, so the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Where we process personal data, we rely on:

  • Delivering the companion you asked to use (restore a game, save a civilization): GDPR Article 6(1)(b).
  • Keeping the service secure, producing balance statistics, and running high scores and the ancient civilization pool: GDPR Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests). You can object; see Your rights.
  • Answering support and deletion requests: GDPR Article 6(1)(b), and Article 6(1)(c) when we are required to honour a legal right.

How long we keep information

GDPR does not set a single number of years. We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purposes above, then delete it:

  • Saved civilizations (including gadgets): 5 years from the date they were saved, then deleted automatically.
  • Game records: 5 years from the game start, then deleted automatically.
  • Game data on your device: until you press "End Game Session" or clear this site's data in your browser.
  • Screen language on your device: until you change it or clear this site's data.
  • Abuse-prevention data: a short time (up to two days).
  • Support emails: as long as needed to handle your request.

If you ask us to delete a civilization sooner, we will, unless we must keep something briefly to complete that request or meet a legal duty.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your information. We share it only as follows:

  • Other players, if you save a civilization, as described above (high scores and ancient civilizations). Those players may be anywhere in the world.
  • Hostinger International Ltd. (Cyprus) hosts the website and the database. See Hostinger's privacy policy.
  • Mistzone, only if Alion asks them for technical help. In that case Mistzone acts on Alion's instructions.

International transfers

Alion is in Norway. The service is offered worldwide. The website and database are hosted by Hostinger. Hostinger has data centres in the EU and in other countries. If personal data is processed outside the EEA, we rely on GDPR safeguards, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Hostinger's data processing addendum.

If you use this service from Korea, storing information with Hostinger is an overseas transfer. Recipient: Hostinger International Ltd. Purpose: hosting the website and database. Items transferred: the game and civilization information described in this policy. Retention: as described under How long we keep information.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics tools. We use the browser's local storage as described above, because the companion cannot restore your game or language without it. You do not need to accept a cookie banner to use this site.

Children

This companion is not directed at children under 13. Please do not enter a child's real name or other personal details. If you believe we have stored a child's personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. There are no user accounts. Access to the hosting environment is limited to Alion and, if Alion asks, technical helpers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your rights

If information we hold is personal data, you can ask Alion to:

  • Access it
  • Correct it
  • Erase it
  • Restrict how it is used
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Receive a copy in a portable format, where that right applies

Email recall@aliongames.com. To find a saved civilization we need the date and time of play and details such as leader name, clan name, country, tribe, or score. You do not need to send technical data from your browser.

You can lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.

If you are in Korea, you may also contact the Personal Information Protection Commission (privacy.go.kr).

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
